Creating a shared visual identity through colour, storytelling and collaboration. The project was created with the aim of strengthening community spirit within a low-income residential area, transforming an everyday building into a source of pride and connection. The mural celebrates the people who make the neighbourhood unique, incorporating the names of local community leaders into eL Seed’s flowing calligraphic composition.
More than a visual transformation, the artwork creates a sense of belonging — turning a familiar residential block into a meaningful piece of public art that reflects the voices and stories of those who live there.

Colour transforming public spaces.
Using vibrant colour and public art to create connection, pride and a renewed sense of community.
Our collaboration with internationally acclaimed artist eL Seed for London Mural Festival 2024 transformed Pelican House in Bethnal Green with a ten-storey mural combining his distinctive Arabic calligraphy with YesColours’ Electric Blue to celebrate community, hope and resilience.
A landmark artwork for community connection.
The power of colour in public realm.
Exploring how bold colour can transform environments and influence how communities feel about their surroundings.
For this project, colour was central to creating impact. YesColours’ Electric Blue was selected as a bold, expressive backdrop for eL Seed’s artwork, providing the intensity and energy needed for a ten-storey public mural.
The vibrant ultramarine shade brings optimism and visibility to the space, demonstrating how thoughtful colour choices can shift perceptions, elevate overlooked environments and create emotional connections between people and place.
eL Seed“We were searching for a blue paint colour that was going to stand out and be a perfect backdrop for the project. YesColours’ Electric Blue was not only incredible to use, but the colour was transformative.”
A collaboration rooted in hope and resilience.
Known for blending Arabic calligraphy with contemporary public art, eL Seed uses his work to communicate messages of unity, peace and resilience. Inspired by Pablo Neruda’s words, Spring Always Comes Back reflects the idea of renewal and the ability of communities to overcome challenges.
YesColours were proud to contribute colour to a project with such a powerful message, supporting an artwork designed not only to be seen, but to be experienced by the community every day.
The mural generated significant community engagement alongside widespread press and social media attention, demonstrating the ability of public art to bring people together and create meaningful conversations.
This collaboration highlights the role colour can play beyond interiors and decoration — as a tool for regeneration, storytelling and social connection. Through the combination of art, community and colour, Pelican House has become a landmark that celebrates resilience and inspires everyone who encounters it.
